100 points at mypoints

I don't know if I won them or if everybody gets them. I hit the botton at the end of my "Connections" newsletter. It says "See if you earn any of the 100,000 points available". I've always gotten the "...sorry", but this time I got 100 points. So don't delete the email, try it out this month.

The different is only in 5-digits number between slashes:
http://www.mypoints.com/sape/25101/...

I tried to change it, and have got the following results:

- Congrats for 5 points (3 times)
- Congrats for 10 points (twice)
- Congrats for 100 points (twice)
- Sorry
- Award expired
- nothing (just transferred to Spend points)
- transferred to mypoints.co.uk site )) (2x)

So if you want to experiment, just change numbers in URL (range from 25090 to 25110)...
... but do not be surprised if they deactivate your account ...

Thanks, Absik001! The 100 points was the 25102 for me, in case people don't want to have to do a big search.

Thanks for the info on changing the code. I'm a bit skeptical though about the possibility of having my account canceled. I know it's happened to people in the past. Just beware. I was the "lucky" winner of an original 10 point link.

When you signed up with MyPoints you specifically agreed not to tamper with URLs, go check your user agreement if you don't remember. You are violating their rules if you do change your URLs, so expect to have your account canceled at the very least. They actually have grounds to prosecute you for fraud or larceny since you are in effect stealing from them. If you really want to play the URL tampering game you can get thousands of points from MyPoints, but you really are just stealing from them since they don't get any revenue from doctored links. Sure its only 100 points this time, but if you are willing to put aside your ethics for just 100 points, what does that say about you?
