This was so easy!

The CSR that handled my call corrected me and told me I was upgraded to Platinum status. Not getting my hopes up, but that would be grand.

Thanks for the info, Ken

One question - do I have to enroll in the SPG program before I call these people, i.e. should I have an SPG account already?

Thanks

RoarAhead, make sure you are NOT already a SPG member. I tried to get the referral for 2 year Gold status, and the CSR told me that the offer was only for current non-SPG members. He did, however, offer me one year Gold comp status as the least he could do. Awfully nice of him too.

I was previously a SPG member, and I did receive the upgrade, although it was to Gold, not Platinum like the CSR told me.

I was already a SPG member also, and it worked for me. The lady was very nice, she took my ~1500 points from my existing account and transfered them over to my new, good for 2 years Gold account

A few people have been told by the CSRs at Starwood that they need to have a "referral card" with a number & character string starting with "G". You don't need this. Tell them that you don't have a "referral card" and that you need a new SPG number assigned to you. When I called for additional cards they said to just call and have them assign you a number instead of them printing new cards.

Hey Ken. FYI. I just this minute called SPG and had no problem comping Gold until Feb. 28, 2001. Now after making my husband change his hotel habits from Marriott to Hilton(after comping Gold there), I will be on him to go Starwood. Of course, only after we get the 50,000 Hilton points. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

If I am Gold now (through ANOTHER comp) can I get it extended through this promotion?

And a side question -- is that 4pm checkout guaranteed or on request?
