MyPoints Earning Potential

I was surfing through the topics today and noticed that several FT'ers are accumulating sizeable amounts of points in the MyPoints program.

I'm just wondering how many points people are earning in the program and what if any dollars are spent accruing the points?

Last year I earned just over 2,000 points and spent about $25 on a magazine subscription. The rest of the points came from reading e-mails. This year I've got almost 1,700 points and haven't spent a dime.

Anyone want to relate their tips on earning points and point totals? Just curious.

It's getting harder and harder to earn MyPoints points unless you buy something.
I usually buy fish food and dog things online and get points, but there is only so much of that stuff that I need. I turn my MyPoints points into Hilton Points as soon as I accumulate 1,000.

Its true the points are getting harder to earn ,but if you go to certain websites, they will tell you how to accumulate extra points by signing up for email letters, special offers, etc. These websites include http://funtasia.net/mypoints.html and http://www.payyobillz.com/mypoints.html
I and other family members have accumulated over $700.00 worth of gas cards this year which we use on trips, especially handy now that gas prices have risen dramatically in the last half year. And don't forget to check every column in your profile page as this will get you more emails, which in turn give you more points to earn. Hope this helps earn you a few more points.

I've earned over 11K points in the past year without spending a dime. I've redeemed about 6K for AA miles (no longer available), and 5K for HHonors points. The links that general45 refers to above are great for padding the old account. I used to click through all the Talk City links, but at 5 points per click once a week currently (down from 10 points per click per DAY a few months ago), I quit doing it.

Both my wife and I have a Mypoints account. Between the two of us, I'd say we average about 200 to 300 points a week. This number is dependant on the occasional 100+ point signup offers. Talk City used to be great, but now at 5 points each, it's just not worth it. I also wish Myway was more consistent. I always check www.funtasia.net/mypoints.html for the latest offers. Respond to every email also. If you want to buy online, I suggest using www.greenpoints.com. The payoff is much better than mypoints, IMHO. :-)

Pointman, General45,

Thanks for the tips. I'll check out the links.

I cash in mypoints for Hilton points.

general45, thanks for the tip. I just edited my profile to let them know I'm interested in everything. That should help.

mypoints.com rocks. One should be pulling in about 1000 points a week with diligence.

800 to 900 without relying on websites like talkcity because it simply not worth the effort. If I did, 1000 is easily attainable.

Sergio.....sorry, you must be thinking of another program. Aside from 55 daily points......more when Myway is working....and a few weeklies and some email....thats it....unless you buy products...which is a little like cheating.

I don't do anything illegal and I just made my first purchase from Mypoints in 9 months (750 pts for Half.com with a $5 discount is a good deal). MyPoint totals for May=3210, June=2865, July=1735 (went on vacation), Aug=2660, and so far Sep=1430 (and I expect about another 1200 with my purchase). I am not getting 1000 points a week, but 600-700 points most weeks.

Steve B:

You should know by now that people don't get the same numbers from any program. While you sitting in some airline seat feeling good that you get a certain amount of frequent flyer miles, the guy next to you is the pudding guy, getting a million miles. We are in the same program, yet some will excel through knowledge and more effort. I have never brought anything through the program but it seems like your numbers are quite low.

general45, another question...you said you and family members had MyPoints accounts. Do you all use the same computer? Do you have to delete the cookies and web pages you've previously visited before you sign in as another MyPoints member?
