using $off coupons on airlines

using $off coupons on airlines
has anyone used coupons for dollars off flights earned from at some sites? wondered if there were restrictions to where they can be used such as via consolidators, airline's web site, travel sites etc...

I have used them at:
- United ticket office on tickets booked through United connection
- corporate travel agent
- online booking at travel web site. I had to overnight the coupon to them.
