new to greenpoints
I've never made a purchase at greenpoints and was looking for everyones' experience with them. If I understand it right, they are currently giving away 20 points per dollar. If I link to Dell and spend say 1400 on a computer, my math says I would be awarded 28,000 greenpoints. If airline certificates are 2,500, that should give me 11 certificates, or 5,500 miles. Is my thinking correct?? Are these point awards reliably given? Seems like a much better deal than mypoints or clickrewards.
Are there better sites? I am currently active with mypoints and now greenpoints. Should I be in any other programs? Any comments are appreciated...thanks

Your math should be correct as far as I know. (Unfortunately that's not so far!) A follow-up question: Are miles posted into your account like clickmiles, or are certificates sent, etc.? What kind of posting time is normal?

the certificates i have ordered in the past with the "bonus or enrollment points" have come in about 10 days through the mail. They are standard Delta rewards 500 mile vouchers. No problem with those, just mail them to delta with your account # for posting

Greenpoints is very inconsistent about postings from purchases. Better than MyPoints but not anywhere close to the standard bearer, ClickRewards. I had to e-mail them about a purchase I never got credit for and my sister has had two such problems including the purchase of a Dell computer for which she should have received close to 30K points. All of these have been resolved although it took a few weeks in each case. And yes, the purchase of a computer for $1400 will get you around 5500 miles!

I've had a very positive experience with greenpoints.com to date. After learning of the site, I purchased a number of gift certificates from one of their member merchants and racked up close to 30,000 airline points.
After submitting my order for the airline certificates, they arrived within the week. I just yesterday mailed them in, though I spent the extra $3.50 for a confirmation of arrival at Delta.

I have racked up over 55000 poiunts with greenpoints. I generally buy from those companies that participate in BOTH ClickRewards and Greenpoints such as Outpost.com or OfficeMax.Com. Better yet, I participate in the rebate program DASH and get 3% - 10% back after the purchase. I have already racked up $33.00 in less than 1 month. Signing up is free. You can use my link: http://www.dash.com/r.asp?a=1&rm=1887635064. This way I get Greenpoints, CLickMiles, AND cash back.

...Also, don't forget to claim your GiftCertificates.com reward points...one point for each $20 spent...another 5% savings...and if you use your affinity credit card, you have benefitted again...Hmmmm...I really like this business! A guy can get hooked on this very easily!

Lasertag and BobL...
How do I get credit for the same purchase at two or more advertising/reward sites? I thought the way they were able to know that you have made a purchase and credit your account with points was because you have to link to the merchant from the rewards site. Thus, there is some kind of refferal code embedded in the clickthrough. Am I wrong. I would be very interested to know how to do this..........

I haven't been able to get points from two or more websites that require that you click through to begin (Greenpoints, alta vista, MileSource, WebMiles all require that you start at THEIr respective webpage) so getting points from two or more of those types of pages are near impossible BUT ClickRewards just requires that you opt in at the end of most of its transactions. GreenPoints requires that you start from their page to get the credit. I simply created a e-mail address of [email protected] (You can create your own at any free e-mail service). This way when I start at Greenpoints, make a purchase at a site that belongs to GP/CR, then I get the points as well as the miles. When I have had a couple of problems getting the miles posted to my CR account, I called the original company, pointed out my "[email protected]" e-mail address and assured them that THEY erred in not giving me my clickmiles. Don't forget the dash bar as well as charging it to an affinity card (I use DC or AA Visa). Hope that helps. Erik
