Greenpoints AA Certificates Stupid Question

If I turn Greenpoints in for American Airlines 500 mile certificates, can I then send them to Alaska Airlines for credit to my mileage account there since American is an airline partner?

I realize this is pretty simple, but I'm a firm believer in the adage "The only stupid question is the one not asked". Besides, I'm still a rookie when it comes to all these click for miles/spend for points deals.

Thanks in advance

I would be very surprised if you could. Green Point buys these certs from AA and thus they would have to be put into your AAdvantage account. Isn't Alaskan a partner in Green Points though?? You could try sending it back to them if so. Obviously, you could use your AA miles to fly on Alaskan, but if the bulk of your miles are with Alaskan that doesn't help you much.

Thanks leroy11,

When I went to redeem my points, I could have sworn that AA and DL were the only choices. In my infinite wisdom, I figured since AA was a partner, that would be the better choice. Maybe that's why writing rules for programs/contests is not my occupation. I will probably try to see if they will change them for Alaska cert's.

You could also do what I did--trade your unwanted certs for those you do want. I traded 2,000-mile AA certs (from Greenpoints) to someone here on the board for 2,000-mile NW certs. Easy as pie!
