FTD.com

I searched for a thread on this and did not find one dedicated to this vendor. Please merge if my search was flawed. Got this email offer today:

Make Mom happy and earn valuable award miles with a Mother's Day arrangement from FTD. You'll earn 30 miles for every dollar spent*, plus 150 bonus miles per order. Or, use your miles with FTD for all your Mother's Day gifts.

I ordered a plant for my aunt for $44.99 (plus $15.99 delivery fee, ouch!) and earned 1500 miles. This route versus buying miles is close, $75.25 to buy 2,000 miles on United site, but you get a nice gift for someone too this way. So, if you're considering buying miles to top off for an award this might be a better route. I usually see my miles in about two weeks +/-.

I've used this before, but I've learned to check the prices that come up with a click-through via UR. Sometimes the price difference will be $10 or more - in which case I'm more than happy with 15pts/$ via UR. UR points are more valuable anyway, so I'd rather have those.

FWIW, I've been happy with them, especially when I use the local florist option. Sure, the service charges are high for that, but it's easy and gets some miles in the process.

I agree. I had someone once tell me they received the best flowers they've ever gotten through FTD, and I don't think they were just being nice. But it is the same product either way, so I usually open two browsers. In one I click through UR to FTD. In the other I click through the Mileage Plus links. The prices are frequently different, and some items will not be available on the MP version of the site. I then decide if it is worth the price difference for the extra miles. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't.
