PNC Points (Visa Extras)

I am getting close to what used to be our regular redemption of PNC Points (Previously points by National City). The program is administered through the Visa Extras Program. 20,000 points used to garner us a $50 Marriott gift card. For us this was the best point to dollar value. However for the last several months I have not been able to find Marriott gift cards in their catalog. Anyone know if Visa Extras is no longer offering this as a redemption option?

I think it's no longer an option, but I'm not sure if it's temporary. They might bring it back at a higher point level, if Marriott increases the cost to PNC for the gift cards.

What a bummer. That was the ONLY redemption I use! I sure hope they come back soon (at a LOWER level)

Just logged into my account today to check my point status, and found out that as of April, if you have a free checking account with them, or one that charges a fee unless you meet a minimum balance, you'll no longer be eligible to participate. Those previously enrolled will earn points until September 12, 2011, and will have until December 31, 2012 (IIRC) to redeem points.

PNC

Thanks, Kipper. Didnt know what the new changes until now. Gave them call and you need to have a performance checking to earn points and in performance checking, you need to hv a min of $2500.00 or 2 dd of min if $75.00. So I'll see if I want to upgrade or stop banking with them. Otherwise, I can earn points till end of Sept and need to redeemed by Dec 31 2011.

I'm probably just going to stop banking with them, and will take advantage of one of the promos that several banks usually run to open new accounts.
