Ryanair website - sudden takedown
with 48 hours notice Ryanair website will be offline for 12 hours

Also, note that they have said that normal 55 fee will still apply if you need to check in at the airport. Given that those who do not select seats can only checkin 48 hours in advance, this seems particularly unfair. I can see a lot of people being caught out by this.
