They are losing pilots faster than a gambling addict loses his money.

Naughty Norwegian opened a base up in Dublin and have taken 140 Ryanair pilots so far this year. No pilots, no fly - simple rally. This is a huge challenge to Ryanair to fix and a win win for pilots and remuneration

I think they are in a very painful situation to allow this to happen.
They know very well that the vast majority of affected customers either don't know, or never will bother to, apply for compensation.

Really?

Most people have a hard time just finding a babysitter...let alone one that won't complain when you pay them some foreign currency.

No information from Ryanair

As of this writing Ryanair is listing cancelled flights up to Sept 20, so exactly one day away.
What about those of us who are booked a month from now? This is incredibly bad planning, and worse customer treatment. They obviously do not care.

That's two days away - today is the 18th, tomorrow (which is, as ever, only a day away! Ask Annie ) is the 19th.

You will be informed by SMS/email as soon as your flight is impacted - so make sure your contact details are correct.

Yeah, you're right, it is two days away. So if we're flying on October 12th, we will have to wait until the 10th to find out whether we can fly?

I have seen a twitter post from a passenger who couldn't get on his return flight. Great if he has a job he isn't fond of.

At this stage, nobody knows. But from looking at the list of cancellations, the same routes appear over and over. Flights from many Ryanair destinations are unaffected. If you keep an eye on the cancellations lists, you may get a feel for whether your route is likely to be impacted, or not. Though, of course, the "roster" of routes may change in the coming days/weeks.

Thanks for the info. I've found longer (though less aircrafty, more customer orientated) threads on other forums. After seeing your comments on the pilots, I checked on the PPPune forums, and there is a very detailed thread there. Thanks.

Ryanair are due to hold a press conference today around 4pm (BST) and the full list of cancellations will be published.

Mo'L told Sky News, who doorstepped him earlier today: "We sincerely apologise and we are working very hard at the moment to make sure we finalise the list of flight cancellations."

Ryanair today (18 Sept) confirmed that it has published the full list of flight cancellations (now less than 50 per day) between Thurs 21st Sept. to Tues 31st Oct. next. These cancellations have been allocated where possible, to Ryanair’s bigger base airports, and routes with multiple daily frequencies so that Ryanair can offer these disrupted customers the maximum number of alternate flights and routes in order to minimise inconvenience to them.

The full list of these flight cancellations (from Thurs 21st to Thurs Oct 31st) will appear on the Ryanair.com website later today, and customers affected by these cancellations will be emailed with offers of alternative flights or full refunds, and details of their EU261 compensation entitlement.

The airports where one line of flying will be removed for the next 6 weeks are as follows, (these airports have been selected because of the high frequency of flights Ryanair operates to/from these airports where customers can be offered the most accommodating options):

Barcelona 1 of 12 lines of flights
Brussels Charleroi 1 of 13 lines of flights
Dublin 1 of 23 lines of flights
Lisbon 1 of 4 lines of flights
London Stansted 2 of 41 lines of flights
Madrid 1 of 13 lines of flight
Milan Bergamo 1 of 14 lines of flights
Porto 1 of 8 lines of flights
Rome Fiumicino 1 of 3 lines of flights

While Ryanair sincerely regrets and apologises for these cancellations, it pointed out that they will affect less than 2% of all customers over the next 6 weeks, and the majority of these passengers will be offered alternative flights on the same or next day. For those passengers who cannot, or do not wish to take the alternative flights offered they will receive a full refund and their EU261 compensation.

There are three reasons, why Ryanair will cancel up to 2,100 flights in the next six weeks:
1. Many Ryanair pilots still have to take their holidays this year and Ryanair has forgotten those free days when making the duty schedules for the pilots.
2. Ryanair needs replacement aircrafts for increasing its punctuality rate over 80%.
3. Ryanair wants to be prepared, if it will get additional slots resulting from AirBerlin's insolvency.

Interestingly [or not] there's a new thread on the BAEC forum discussing the same aspect.
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/briti...you-think.html

Airlines can be very coy about offering to hand out huge sums of money for their own mistakes/problems.

Hi guys, new flyertalker here

So my flight is cancelled (next saturday), Should i ask for a refund and fill a claim for EU261 compensation?
Looks like in their site i need to fill 2 forms for this, so i just wanna be sure that accepting the flight refund doesn't take the right for the claim.

Thanks
