Ryanair have started a reserved seating trial on the Dublin to Gatwick and Dublin to Malaga routes.

Does it come with a guaranteed appointment when you can use the loo?

........ and child-free flights weren't necessarily an April Fool's joke. Some flights will be trialled for this during the forthcoming winter timetable ....

I like that idea and would be prepared to pay a premium.

WN tried assigned seating out of SAN IIRC, and decided to stick with cattle call boarding. Though the new system with numbers seems to be working a little better.

Now child free flights, that would be a great idea.

I don't see the point in child free flights on Ryanair. The whole flight is spent listening to them try to sell you food, smokeless cigarettes, lottery tickets, phone cards, etc.

That's yet another publicity gimmick (like the supposed charges for using the loo) and will IMO not happen.

I was interested to note how low the Ryanair priority boarding fee was compared with easyJet (the latter being almost twice as much). It might backfire on them, though. The main reason I bother with easyJet Plus / Speedy Boarding is to get the exit row. If I instead have the option of reserving it, I'll consider doing that so long as the fee isn't too high, and if it's taken I won't bother with either, as so long as you're near the front of the "2"/"OTHER" queue you'll pretty much always manage either a window or an aisle.

Could this actually lose them some priority boarding sales? Might they just be better off doubling the priority boarding fee to make it more "exclusive" without reducing income from it?
