If you are considering Germany as a starting point, the LCC Air Berlin and germanwings both fly to Moscow. Connections through Riga on Air Baltic might also be an option.

Otherwise just try the usual search engines - Skyscanner, Kayak, Dohop etc or ITA Software Month-long search. KLM and Swiss are often good value (from the UK regions at least).

Germanwings flies STN-VKO via CGN. The train from VKO into town is quite convenient!

flybmi might have cheap flights, but one of my collegues described them as horrible and nasty on the Moscow run.

Check out the main travel websites. Generally, if you go via somewhere (LH/LX or even OK) tend to be fairly cheap considering the distance (it's 4 hours non-stop). Plus don't forget good old Aeroflop!

Be careful if looking at second half of March. Schools here break up, so seats will be full of liesure travellers.

That said, ba.com had LHR-DME for £255 -- considering Club is £1,800 on that route and full Y is £900!

bmi came in at £215 off expeida.
