I edited my post above to reflect this.
And I used it about 6 times I think the weekend of November 2 and 3. Thanks again for your leg work on that.

The Sheraton Palace...was ok. Nothing to write home about. Major PEHOHT going on so lots of noise during the day. The Mediterrian Restaurant on the second floor was lots better than expected. The rooms though and the lobby and the staff were just "ok" in my opinion. I kinda expected more.

I'm seriously doubting January 1 for that rail station to be finished. The station in front of SVO2 looks to be just a bit behind SVO3 in development and they are saying fall of 08 now for SVO3. I know there is a lot less inside stuff to do with the train station than the airport but 7.5 weeks to finish it? I just don't know.

BTW, the lady at the lounge at SVO2 said she was told fall of 08 for SVO3 and there will be a number of lounges specific to airlines. She something about SU and AF having a lounge that Delta would likely use. I was hoping for something more Sky Team branded but I'll take what I can get.

I'll start a new thread about some Aeroflot observations in a bit...

I'm flying from SVO on Jan. 1, can I take the train?
I have taken the metro to Rechnoy Vokzal as well (or it may have been that other station) and a bus for RR 16 about two years ago. I was in a group of four so the savings per person wasn't spectacular but we were very proud to beat the taxi mafia!
I was seriously worried about missing my flight though.
For reasons beyond my control, I always try to have my visa issued for an extra few days to buffer.
Think I will try it again.

This past May when I arrived from KBP to catch my LAX flight, I was given the invite (actually three of them) about 4 or 5 hrs before the flight. This was at the transfer desk, right before they left you out into the duty-free zoo.

Well, you should be able to do so if the official predictions are anything to come by - but I have some serious reservations.

You'd better take the train to Lobnya and the bus or a cab from there to SVO as described in this thread. And make sure you check out this thread as well

SVO immigration and passport control was no problem. I arrived via Lufthansas first flight from FRA and no one else was in line. Passed through customs 5 mins later. Book a car prior to arrival its much wiser than taking your chances with the mob of drivers there.

Time from touchdown to hotel

Picking up on this thread to ask another SVO arrival question. My flight is arriving at noon on a Monday. What is the reasonable minimum to allow for arrival at my hotel (Metropol), including immigration, baggage retrieval, customs, getting to my pre-arranged car and arrival at the hotel? Don't worry, I will build in my own slack, but I would appreciate it if you would take into account the traffic you would normally expect at this time.

Thanks.

I'd count on being at your hotel around 3 p.m. or so. Or so...
