Question Do I Need a Russian Visa?

OT, but I couldn't find the answer quickly on Google. As a British citizen with a UK passport, do I need a visa to visit Russia (tourism - just a few days)?

Thanks,
B.

Thanks, all. I'm taking a Silverseas cruise Stockholm->Tallinn->St. Petersburg (+Moscow), so I think they'll handle it for me.

If you go on cruise sponsored tours. If you want to go off on your own, then you will need a visa.

I think by the time you ad up:
(1) the visa invitation fee
(2) the consulate fee for issuing the visa
(3) an express fee (assuming you don't want to wait months for the visa)
(4) an agency fee (to go to the consulate for you, assuming you don't want to spend hours queuing at the consulate)

You will be closer to £200.

Oh, and if you are looking for the Russian tourist board, I think you'll find there isn't one.

It 'morphed' into a tour operator/travel agency: http://www.Intourist.com/ENG/index.shtml
UK Branch: http://www.IntouristUK.com

I always fancied going to Russia but as a tourist I resent being ripped off, given the cost of hotel rooms as well as visas I shall give Russia a wide berth for the forseeable future.

I think you'll find that Intourist was actually something else, posing as a tourist office.

Theres a lot of interesting history surfacing about it at the moment now that the "new" Intourist is being floated on the London Stock Exchange. There was quite a bit of coverage in the papers and some of the journals at the start of the year when it was first announced I think.
