Avoid long DME layover
Hi,
We will be visiting Moscow for the first time in April, staying in a self catering apartment in Old Arbat. Our return flight on the final day is at 19:25. Unless I pay for an extra half day we will have to check out from my apartment by 12pm. Given there is no left luggage facility we will have to head straight to DME which means a long wait at the airport.
Assuming we will be waiting at DME for 5 hours, how diverse is DME in terms of its facilities for travellers (shops, leisure etc)? How about its BA lounge (we are flying in J)?
Or are we better off hanging on to the apartment and do some more sight seeing and leave in late afternoon?

I would check out on schedule and head to the airport. There's a good selection of restaurants etc. landside, and the BA checkin will open at about 2.30 for the early flight. You can go through and wait in the lounge, which is comfortable enough and offers limited hot food.
If you decide to wait in the city, you will need to factor in that traffic to the airport will be much heavier later in the day, so you would be well advised not to leave much later than 3 pm anyway.

Are you taking a cab or the train? There are left luggage facilities at the Paveletskiy train station.
The BA Lounge at DME is not huge but facilities are OK.
