Uber from Bloomington IL

I'm going to a family wedding in March, and Bloomington, Il is the closest airport for Delta flights. My plan is to use Uber for the 60 mile trip to a small town. Is Uber available there, and are they reliable? A bigger concern is getting back to the airport from a dot on the map.

To which small town are you headed? Its hard to offer any assessment if we dont know which town youre trying to go (and return from) for the wedding.

Open up the Uber app in your phone now.

Using the where to option at the top of the app screen, then search in a different city in the from option. Enter in the small town where you want to start your trip and Central Illinois Regional Airport in Bloomington as your destination.

Then without ordering the trip, see what options it gives you along with the animation showing current Uber cars in the general area.

This way you can determine whether the location where the wedding is being held is likely to have Uber service.

Youre welcome. Were you able to come to a conclusion regarding Uber availability?

If your trip coincides with the university's spring break, you may find less availability. Clearly every Uber or rideshare driver is not a student or depending on students, but BMI is a college town. Sixty miles to a small town is not something I would depend on. You may get there okay--likely for a premium. The direction you head in will determine a great deal. BMI also has an Amtrak station. You might look into that as well. I would have a back up, at minimum. Amtrak Midwest is decent. Finally, I found rental car pricing at BMI extremely reasonable not too far back. I don't enjoy driving, but I was headed to a town about 30 miles north and I was not wanting to chance it--it was a college holiday during much of my visit.

Have a back up plan (depending on the dates and city).

I'm thinking the first weekend in March won't be a problem.

I would go with car rental and be secure that I have transportation to/from. 60mile trip is not something every UBER driver enjoys as they are not guaranteed a ride back to their local area, so they are driving 60 miles back without pay, the pay they receive does not justify it, and they can cancel on you. Besides there is no guarantee that the tip will be great either. That would be the way I will go.

You may be hard pressed to find any Uber/Lyft availability from Eureka, Roanoke, Washington, or similar locations in the area to BMI. Usually there is none, occasionally there might be a driver in the summer. From BMI some drivers won't take a trip like this. As above car rental is the way to go.

When I said I'd get an Uber, a family member offered to pick me up.
