$5-$10 off promos unlocked upon landing in another city?

I noticed last year upon arriving in Austin, I suddenly got $10 off 10 rides coupons for Uber and Lyft magically pushed to my phone. This year several hours after landing in Charlotte, I got several $5 off 10 rides promo codes for Lyft, followed a few minutes later by a nearly identical offer for Uber. In all cases, I noticed the coupon T&Cs said they expire, coincidentally, a few days after I was scheduled to leave.

Has anyone else noticed this? If so, I guess Uber and Lyft know you're traveling in a new location where rideshare might be helpful, based on your GPS location being very different from where you normally go? How do Uber and Lyft know for how long you are likely to stay?

Did you add your HHonors number to your Lyft account? Hotel reservation would indicate your intended stay length.

No, I think I have a Delta link. I only flew them going home, United going there. Likewise in Austin, flew United going there, Southwest going home.
