Can I get AA miles from someone else's dining?

I have a few close friends and family who themselves have no interest in miles and wouldn't mind if got any miles from their activities - as long as they didn't have to take any special trouble.

If we signed up their credit card number for my ff acct, would I get miles from their dining out, or does the system match names on the card and acct, and will not let it go through?

Well no need to wonder anymore ...the answer is clearly yes

I do this all the while to prevent relatives FF miles from expiring.
I sign them up to the relevant program using my credit card.. I dine and they get the miles into their account... the reverse works just as well.

Great to know, and thanks a lot! ^

PS. In light of the post #5 below, do these relatives share your last name, or has this worked even with different names?

No problems for you. My wife kept her maiden name after we married: her milage accounts and credit cards are in her maiden name and mine are in mine. The dines are registered to me and they always show up.

Okay guys, thanks a lot. If it was CC, I would have said "Mods, please close thread"! No need for that, but the issue settled.

In fact, since this thread is about iDine / Rewards Network, it will be moved to that Forum, instead of being closed.
