Wrong MC #

My MasterCard number changed a couple of years ago when Citibank "upgraded" the number, but I forgot to change it on iDine and haven't used it for iDines since then. I checked that my MC was registered before dining four times in the last three days, but have only just realised that the MC number was wrong (two of them were pre-booked dines). On Day 4 I have changed my registered card to the new one.

It usually takes 2-3 days for iDines to show up as Pending. Do you think there is any cance that any of these dines will post (two of them were VERY expensive)?

Can anything be done after the event, please?

Changing your number 4 days later means that the meals are not going to post on their own. To be honest, I'd say your best shot is to submit them as "missing credits" manually; I would not give iDine any explanation beyond that at that time. If they then declined to post them stating "Those dines were prior to enrolling the [new] card," I'd have to say they were within their rights to do so. However, as you say these are significant charges, I'd then appeal the denial (giving the full story) in writing. Longshot, but depending on the supervisor's mood that day, you might just get by.

Ironically, the last time I called in with a concern to my Delta account (this has not happened with any other partners), the rep insisted on verifying the details of my linked cards before proceeding to address my concern; one of them I almost never use and don't carry in my wallet (only card I have that doesn't earn miles!), but she was firm on waiting while I dug it out to confirm the expiration date.

To report: a week later I find that three out of the four iDines have posted without any intervention from me. Only the earliest one didn't. So, it would appear that, as long as you change the number before IDine have time to process the awards, you're OK. I had even pre-booked one that posted using the "old" MasterCard number, but it still went through.

I have now written to them sending the receipt for the earliest iDine and await their response.
