Does the name on the card have to match the name on the RN account? Is it possible for me to register my card in my girlfriend's RN account to let her earn points (and keep her mileage account alive)?

Several of my wife's CCs are registered to my RN account. No problems with me getting miles for her spending (which ends up getting paid out of my checking account anyway, so....)

RN does not know or ask the name on the credit card, it only asks for the credit card number itself.

I once did a dine (on a card I only was going to use once, for "first purchase" to get a sign-up bonus) for a friend who was on assignment in an area (halfway across the country) without participating restaurants and meanwhile whose miles were getting close to expiration. It worked perfectly.

And of course, neither does RN know where you're traveling, so for someone who hasn't done RN dining in a long time, a dine far away from where they live seems quite "natural", since they might simply on a trip there.

The only thing that might possibly set off alarms at RN if someone were constantly getting dines on the same day with cards in completely different locations. Then they might realize you're not the doing all the dines.

But for what you're describing and what I did (just enough to keep someone else's miles alive), it's no problem at all.

(Now, in my case, as I said, it was a card that I never used for my own dining. I don't know if they would raise an eyebrow if you moved a card between your account and another account. If that is what you want to do, delete it manually first from the old account before you register it in the new account, so that RN doesn't see it as a "move".)
