I don't do as much hotel (and therefore gideon bible) travel as many here do, so its never an expectation to find one in the drawer. But when I do see it there it helps to remind me at least some people are doing the job, and providing for those when they don't have one.
Like most here, the Seventh-day Adventist church has a vast spectrum of conservative to liberal churches. I would say that most of them would have extra bibles for people to borrow, but they are never up front and centre where they can easily be found or looked through.
