Park Inn by Radisson Sarvar, Hungary

What is your Club Carlson status?
Gold

Where did you stay?
Park Inn by Radisson Sarvar, Hungary

Were you happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Standard award room, upgraded to One-bedroom Suite.
(Weird thing is, check-in agent did not even mention the upgrade )

Did you receive elite benefits?
Room upgrade (hotel was full, high season because of national holiday in Hungary), welcome fruit platter, wine & card. Also late check out.

How are the rooms?
Not sure about standard room, the suite was excellent for a Park Inn. Lounge area with TV, sofa and additional rest room; room with bed and bathroom. Double size balcony.

What was good and what was bad?
Complimentary access to the Sarvar Spa (one of the biggest in Hungary) and fitness, complimentary buffet breakfast with huge selection. Large selection of other activities (bowling, bike rental, kids and fitness programmes, etc.)

Nothing really to complain about, perfect spa weekend, best award redemption experience ever.

Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
Yes.

Where did you stay?
Radisson Fallsview Niagara Falls, Canada

Were you happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Standard City View Room. No upgrade received. The General Manager said she tried to give us a room upgrade but wasn't able to do that because of availability.

Did you receive elite benefits?
Welcome letter, bottled water, energy bars, and and candies. The best thing was that the GM waived the parking fees, ~$cad 40.

How are the rooms?
Pretty standard since we booked a lowest-end typed room and received no upgrade.

What was good and what was bad?

Good: Complimentary shuttle bus passes and free parking. Good location. Nice and friendly staff.

Bad: Nothing really, although it would be ideal to get an upgrade to Fallsview room.

Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
I got the BRG match (-25%) and parking fees waived. I'd say good value for money.

Where did you stay? (Brand, Location, Country)
Radisson Blu Letterkenney, Ireland

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Very Happy

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard Cash + Points, received Business
My other family members are Silver and they booked Standard on Cash+points and received a standard roome

Did you receive elite benefits?
Complimentary Room Upgrade - Yes
Early Check In/Late Check Out - Not required
In-Room Welcome Gift - Yes - Bottle of Wine and a nice note from the Manager

How are the rooms?
The rooms are very nice. The only difference between the standard room that the other members of the family had was that the Business rooms were in a separate wing, had robes and slippers laid out for us and had a Nespresso coffee maker.

What was good and what was bad?
The staff was very nice and helpful. The families enjoyed the breakfast buffet that was included in the rate. The hotel is centrally located and near shopping and the highway. Nothing bad that I can come up with

Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
The cash + points was an great value. If I was going to be in the area again, I would definitely stay here.

What is your Club Carlson status?
Gold.

Where did you stay?
Radisson Fallsview, Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada.

Were you happy with the hotel/stay?
Generally yes, happy but not thrilled.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard cityview room (lowest rate, no view, no whirlpool, no sleep number bed).
Upgraded to riverview room with whirlpool bathtub and sleep number bed (retail value of $40 more than the room type I booked). Details below in the "rooms" section.

Did you receive elite benefits?
Complimentary room upgrade: yes;
Early check in: not required from me;
Late check out: extended from 11am to 2pm;
In-room welcome gift: none.

How are the rooms?
Upon check in, I asked whether there's an upgrade for me, she looked down at her screen and said I was already assigned to an upgraded room.
Room was amazing. Despite being called "riverview", I could actually see some parts of the falls. Room was at a very high floor. Bathtub was a jacuzzi/whirlpool. We checked online and found that the upgraded room usually sells at $40 more than the room type I booked. We were very happy with the room.

What was good and what was bad?

Good: the upgraded room.

Bad (not really "bad" but just something I didn't like but didn't bother me too much either):

1. First of all, this Radisson has a standard check in of 4pm and check out of 11am. 4pm?? 11am?? I called at 3pm on the day of check in and was told that there was no room available for me. So I thought, oh, they were actually serious about the 4pm check in time. And, which hotel checks out at 11am? Who nowadays wakes up that early on a leisure trip? Most hotels I've been to checks in at 2 and checks out at 12 and I thought that's standard practice. When I asked for a late check out they were only willing to give me until 1pm. Later when I stretched it they agreed for a 2pm. I knew for a fact that they didn't have much occupancy the next day because the weather was horrible (the hurricane) and it was a weekday. But they still didn't want to go after 2pm. And during the whole time of talking about check out time they didn't seem to acknowledge my status.

2. No in-room welcome gift. I would have settled for as simple as a bottle of water with a welcome card but there was none.

3. Hotel location is inferior to other major hotels in the area. 70% of the hotel structure is blocked by a Marriott from directly seeing the falls, and the parts that do see the falls, only see the falls from a very side angle.

Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
Pretty good value considering the upgraded room.
May or may not return depending on what promotions they are running at the time.

Where did you stay? (Brand, Location, Country)
Radisson Blu Hotel Amsterdam, Netherlands

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard room, received Business Class room that just came out of renovation. (at least I was told but have no doubts)

Did you receive elite benefits?
Complimentary Room Upgrade - Yes
Early Check In/Late Check Out - I asked for both but didn't receive any and was told that the hotel was fully booked the next night (not true, did a dummy booking)
In-Room Welcome Gift – Yes, 1 bootle of water and some chocolate
Free breakfast - only after I told them that it was free (tried to charge me)

How are the rooms?
The size of the room was okay, I assume the standard rooms are tiny. The bathroom was very small but nice. The bed was fantastic and probably the best bed I have slept in at a Radisson. Also, I liked that the room had some individual NL style with a stair within the room, fancy roof window, etc.

What was good and what was bad?
Good:
Nice room, the upgrade, great location, nice lobby
Bad:
Most of the employees had no clue about CC elite benefits, the denied late check-out, value for breakfast if you had to pay for it (25 EUR for a rather poor buffet), the hallway and atmosphere towards the rooms are horrible, once you get in, it's fine

Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
Yes. (stayed there on points, would have never paid the 2XX Euro they asked for considering the product)

Where did you stay? (Brand, Location, Country)
Park Plaza, Utrecht, NL

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes!

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard on a 4for2 then on a 2for1 rate, good business

Did you receive elite benefits?
Complimentary Room Upgrade - Yes
Early Check In/Late Check Out - Yes
In-Room Welcome Gift - Yes, basket of fruits, dutch waffels and a large bottle of water.

How are the rooms?
Very good and clean.

What was good and what was bad?
Good:
Attentive staff, but... (read below)
Bad:
I received a box full of Belgian beers to have while there and I only got it the next day after some hard work, phoning postal service, etc. Apparently someone from the staff though it was destined to a conference and told no one. Also, the cleaning staff is noisy as hell in the morning.

Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
Killer deal on the weekend extender rates, good value on weekends, mid week rates a bit too much (EUR 130+), but Utrecht has a hotel problem.
Will return whenever I am back in Utrecht. Location is also good, although not the best.

Would and will return. Definitely not bad value for money, but it is worth checking the nearby Radisson Blu rates as well, especially when it comes to using points+cash.

Where did you stay?
Park Inn, Muscat, Oman

Were you happy with the hotel/stay?
Overall yes.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Standard Room. No upgrade received when I arrived but within 10 minutes of getting to my room received a phone call to say they would upgrade me to a Business Room (luckily hadn't unpacked yet).

Did you receive elite benefits?
Eventually (after three mornings) got complimentary buffet breakfast. No other benefits.

How are the rooms?
Pretty standard Park Inn rooms. Business room a bit larger with a sofa and robe/slippers (not that I use the robe/slippers).

What was good and what was bad?

Good: Handy location for working in the Ministries district. Good price compared to other hotels in Muscat.

Bad: Not really a good location for leisure - next to a main road and some distance from beaches etc.

Would have been nice if reception staff knew about Carlson Elite benefits!

Not exactly inspiring menu selection in RBG grill and no other decent restaurants without a taxi ride.

Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
Better value than a lot of hotels in Muscat and handy for Ministries district so will probably return.

Booked 'Inland view', received same.

Did you receive elite benefits?
Complimentary Room Upgrade - No
Early Check In/Late Check Out - Not needed
In-Room Welcome Gift - Yes, but only after asking. I got a large bottle of Water and a free drink in the bar.

How are the rooms?
Very standard, but nice and clean and decent size.

What was good and what was bad?
Good:
A decent hotel at a decent price.
The view might be good during daytime and in a seaview room.
Seems like a good location (don't know St. Helier very well).
Bad:
Welcome gift only on request, no upgrade.

Value for money or Gold Points?
Yes, when/if I go to Jersey it will be my choice.

Have stayed several times, and will return. The Park Inn is generally a cheaper option than the nearby Radisson Blu, but there you would get free movies as well if you get an upgrade.
