Oneworld ???
Something just crossed my mind in conjunction with the LHR-ZRH-EZE-ZRH-LHR thing:
If SWISS joins Oneworld before my flight, which isn't until next summer, paid flights on SWISS would count towards AA elite status. Now, if I sign up for a Platinum Challenge, I could reach Platinum Status with that flight.....
Anyone else thought about that ?

asking swiss and asking our FlyerTalker hfly will give you two answers from both ends of the possibilities/spectrum ... my bet: chances are 50:50
