What to do with open flights ?

Rudi, you seem to know a lot about this stuff: I still have tickets booked in November and December. I paid for them in Juli. I assume therefor that Swissair already cashed and 'burned' the money. So, even IF Crossair would take over routes from ZRH-IAD (in my case this is the route) why would they honour my ticket ? THis is no income for them ? And based on the probably thousands of other persons (planning to) travel(ling) on Swissair in the upcoming months, that would mean that Crossair would fly them all for free. I can never believe they are going to do that.

I could get my money back via AMEX and rebook on f.i. Think that is wise or should I wait and expect Crossair to fly my over eventually.

and some other thing: what is going to happen with Qualiflyer ? Is Crossair going to honour all (still) outstanding miles ?
Or can I consider them lost ?

Are the Qualiflyer Service Centres independent from Swissair ? Or are they a subsidiary just like Gate Gourmet, Flightlease etc. ? In other words; are they bankrupt as well ?

the Qualiflyer Company is a Ltd 'for itself', but I don't know (yet) if that Ltd is going to be bankrupt too.

The question has been asked already in public here in Switzerland - and no concrete answer has (yet) been given about the possible future of the Qualiflyer program.

Right now, at the swiss TV consumer oriented feature 'Kassensturz' a lawyer (specialized in travel questions) admits that he doesn't know the answer, and is very unsure, for how long Crossair will still honour Qualiflyer points/awards.

This hasn't happened to me before - having booked on an airline that subsequently went out of business.. I have a roundtrip ticket booked in February on SR. It appears that they have not charged my credit card yet.. is there any hope of SR resuming flights or somehow honoring future tickets? Refund(s) even? Or am I just SOL? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

booked and not paid (not charged your credit card) yet?

cancel now the booking (and at the same time inform your credit card that they should not honour any later charges).

It appears to have not posted to my card yet.
I cannot get through on the phone to Swissair - perhaps shutting down operations includes shutting down customer service! I have been issued an electronic ticket and a booking reference code.. My credit card company has said that they would contest the charge if it is made in the future. Hopefully this is safe enough.

According to the latest information from Swiss TV, Swissair will resume ex-ZRH flights tomorrow based on a 450 Mio CHF credit guarantee by the Swiss governement. (Currently all aircraft are at ZRH - I saw them today http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif )Swissair intends to resume most of its flights until the end of the summer timetable. If your flight is later then that... hope.

there is one change that swissair is suspending the flights that could be a reason for a refund.
so my advice book BA one world and try to get your money back asap
