Hi all

Unfortunately my grandmother passed away last night and this will necessitate flying to Perth to attend the funeral and comfort relatives.

To assist my relatives to get there cheaply also I am think of redeeming some qualiflyer miles for companion tickets on Qantas Melbourne - Perth round trip. Last time I looked you could get a companion ticket within Australia on Qantas for 15,000 miles (My wife and I each have 15,000 Qualifleyer miles available). As these miles were due to expire later this year it is prudent to utilise them. I checked Qualiflyer's website but could not find details about companion tickets on Qantas. I'm pretty sure that the award is still available with a paid ticket for 15,000 miles.

I would be grateful if someone could check this for me. I'd be also interested to hear about any promotions on Qualiflyer or other partner programs (eg American) for flying in the next couple of weeks.

I have generally found the Qualiflyer Service Centre to be helpful although i'm not sure if there is one in Australia.

I am sorry about your loss.
Companion ticket is available only on Qualiflyer Group airlines, not on partner airlines, I am afraid.
2 years ago I tried ago to book companion ticket for my friend when I myself was booked on Finnair, but it was not possible.
