To be honest I couldn’t at all understand this offer… it prompts you to click and sign into your QRPC account… then doesn’t provide any explanation of which route and class specifically offers 60% discount.

Seems to be click bait simply to remind that you CAN redeem your Avios for partner flights and it may be UP TO 60% lesser than QR routes without mentioning how to piece together the routes and the corresponding surcharge and fees that entail.

Totally useless communication as far as I’m concerned.

I called the call centre and they are not aware of this offer either.

LHR-TYO QR Business is 160k avios + taxes (this is the standard rate)
Using their partner airlines form, the JAL direct flights are 185k + taxes.

Doesn't sound like a deal to me.

Could it be referring to this mistakenly?

If it did, then someone at QR badly needs to go back to school. 60% bonus does NOT equate to 60% off!

64,000 Avios for £660.

I need a grown-up to tell me if that’s a good deal?

I think the 60% less Avios is comparing
- partner redemption prices v.s. QR redemption prices, or
- the new Avios pricing v.s. the old Qmiles pricing

But anyway, yeah it's a clickbait email and not an offer.

This may have now morphed into buy avios and receive up to 60% bonus:

"For four days only, you can collect up to 60% bonus Avios. All you need to do is complete your purchase between 19 and 22 June 2023"

MileLion did an analysis (mostly for SG based people) but the bulk of it applies to everyone - https://milelion.com/2023/06/20/qata...p-to-60-bonus/

Got excited about the email, and thought that Qatar Easydeals (which were quite handy a few years ago) are back. But no luck! I fail to comprehend this promotion

There are 2 different topics discussed in this thread:
- 60% less Avios with our partner airlines
- 60% bonus on the purchase of Avios

Let me put it this way: what does 64,000 get you? Is what you buy with 64k Avios worth £660? (Keep in mind that £660 worth of flying can also get you some Avios)

I've weighed some similar options in the past and concluded that cash would get me further than the Avios would. Using Avios for flights/upgrades also relies on award availability, so you may or may not be able to use them for what you want. YMMV, of course.

I reached the same conclusion after calculating the cost to buy Avios vs flight tickets directly (the latter also earns Avios and QPoints).

I'm in two minds about this. I've used up all my Avios so I'm really starting from scratch.

To get a VIE-BKK round-trip in J, I'd need 142,500 Avios. With this promotion, I could buy 144,000 for EUR 1,710. With charges, that would be RT in J for EUR 2,095. Current revenue tickets (for a 5 or 6-month return) are ridiculous (about EUR 4,500), and I get quite good (free) flexibility with an Avios booking, and there is availability for the dates I am looking at.

Hmm ... like buying futures. I suspect (hope?) QR cash fares are going to fall soon ....
