Alsafwa vs Almourjan

Hello flyers,

Which lounge at DOH is better Alsafwa OR Almoujan? I am flying business class transiting 5 hours at DOH.

Thank you.

Al safwa is for First class passengers only but AFAIK is closed. Al Mourjan is pretty much your only option.

Entry in to Al Safwa is normally also granted for Platinum QR members flying business but depends on whether the lounge is open by the time you fly which I doubt

Al Safwa First Class Lounge is as the name suggests, for first class passengers. It also includes QRPC Platinum travelling in ticketed business class.
The lounge is currently closed due to the pandemic.

Al Mourjan Business Class Lounge is the lounge you will get in assuming you have a ticketed business class ticket (no upgrades).

Dunno about the "normally". It's a concession only recently granted, and as the lounge has been closed ever since I'm not sure anyone has been able to take advantage of the new privilege.

Given QR's whimsical approach, it's a concession that could just as easily be withdrawn.

As for a comparison, both are extremely comfortable places to spend time between flights. Mourjan is absolutely fine. Safwa is clearly even more fine, and something of a novelty in a slightly over the top way.

i used this option as a platinum member throughout 2019 and judging by the amount of people in Al Safwa at the time, I'm guessing many others did too. The biggest advantage for me are the Al Safwa bedrooms. If you have a long connection these are great. They are the same as the Oryx transit hotel just free

You were blessed with good fortune.

For the rest of us, al Safwa opened its doors to Plats-in-Business towards the end October 2019 and closed a few months later as Covid began to bite

Hi All,

I am a Platinum QRPC member and travelling on QR metal via DOH next week in Business Class (J on way out, R on return leg).

Their customer service team just sent me this message now.

"Please be advised that our Al Safwa First Lounge is now once again operational and you will be entitled for a free access to your outbound flights. On the other hand, your inbound flight which is on classic fare will be subject for a fee."

- I thought Al Safwa First Lounge was still closed?
- Also thought that Platinum members had access even on R coded tickets.

I would super appreciate if someone can confirm/correct me!! Thank you so much!!

The current peak hours for Al Mourjan is the morning rush ( it starts to get crowded at 6:00 & gets quieter around 10:00 ). Nights are usually quiet at Al Mourjan these days.
