A380 or 777 to Perth

Hi all,

Does anyone have any information or rumors whats happening with Qatar's flights to Perth in 2020?
I have an award flight booked for February 2020 Doha to Perth QR900 (in First Class of course, otherwise I wouldn't bother) via Qantas and got a notification from Qantas that this now has been swapped to a non-First-Class 777-300ER. I know that the A380's for Perth are supposed to get some maintenance between September to December 2019, so for my booking they should long be back in service.
Quite disappointing as I built my round-the-world route specifically to get First Class on Qatar and was lucky enough to secure an available seat...

Thanks all

Hi Hellboy, I have heard through the grapevine that QR isn't filling as many seats as they anticipated on that route with the A380 so I wouldn't be surprised if they eventually switch it out. Much to my disappointment.

The OH went to PER twice in the last 6 months. Loads on both flights were less than impressive. I am going next week and so far looking at Expert Flyer I will have a choice of rows to myself.

I can see this going back to a 777 soon unless loads improve.

Thank you both. At least an understandable reason, though disappointing.
Then I'll switch to another carried, though not really alternatives with OneWorld from this part of the world.

Will be interesting to see where it will go. They need a route with heavy traffic and people willing to pay for F above QSuites, which are on increasing numbers of routes. Wonder if anyplace in the U.S. would support it?

Any update on the return of the 380 to DOH/PER?

I had read somewhere else that it was yearly maintenance.

I really don't like that 777 service and would consider changing to EK through DXB.

[QUOTEQatar Airways in last week’s schedule update filed service changes for Doha – Perth route, currently served by Airbus A380 aircraft. From 12SEP19 to 12DEC19 (DOH departure), the oneWorld carrier will operate this route with 354-seater Boeing 777-300ER on daily basis, instead of A380.[/QUOTE]

The QR website indicates it's still the case that the A380 will return on 13/12/19.

777 doh-per

Just got back from DOH yesterday on 777 flying Eco,I am so used to the A380 on this route, and can tell you the 777 experience was terrible full flight very hard to move through the cabin when the lights were out everyone had their legs in the asile to get comfortable, also very hard for FAs to navigate trolley through aisle without bumping people.
Just wondering if all 777s are confogerated 10 accross.
I know its a numbers game but bring back the 380 as quick as possible or 9 accross 777s

Putting COVID aside, any plans by QR to put 380 back on Perth this coming northern winter?

I had thought it starts in December. I flew mid December 19 and it was changed earlier from 777 to 380. I flew back in march 20 on the 380. I think it's "seasonal". It was rammed in biz and as such I prefer less pax that the 777 or 350 can offer. That said I can understand the desire for 380 in F. Very nice it is to...(having done it only once in F)
