Dirty_Idea SYD-CBR-SYD is classed as a domestic not an international flight! So QR cannot issue tickets for those flights. You are out of luck there.
Leaving a flight at a technical stop would be regarded as not completing the flight and result not only in delays to all the CBR passengers but would also almost certainly result in cancellation of the remaining reservation. If you want to visit Sydney then it is at your cost not QRs.

The ARN-CBR stops for technical in SYD. I'd prefer to stay there. IF I took handbaggage only, could I offload there? If I did, would I lose my return? I'd also be happy to book as a stopover: ARN-SYD-<1 week>-SYD-CBR-SYD-ARN, but QR site doesn't allow me to enter SYD-CBR as a leg. Any ideas? Otherwise I'm going to be doing CBR-SYD return, which seems kinda odd.

I need to be there in Feb or Mar, so not much chance of the Qsuite. I'm reluctantly going to let this one go in the hope that SQ or QR have another offer from ARN to SYD. Fingers crossed.

Wandered by QR.com today, local sites for Vietnam and Philippines. Both had "2 for 1" Business Class and "3 for 2" Economy Class sales going to various destinations in Europe and the United States.
SGN to IAD, JFK, IAH worked out to about $2500 per pax for 2 flying J.
HAN to BOS, PHL, IAD, IAH, ORD also about $2500 per pax in J on two-to-go basis.
MNL-ATL was $2450 per pax in J, two-to-go. Other US destinations similar.
CRK-ATL $2100 per pax in J, two-to-go.
All of these are roundtrip. BEST OF ALL for those who plan ahead: Fares good from now through end of schedule-- October 2018.
Didn't check other local sites like Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia. Maybe more out there.
