Two of us will be flying out from CWL to CMB via DOH on the 21st June. Currently booked in economy (W) and have not received any emails re: upgrade offer so I guess the business class booking must be doing well for both flights. Does anyone know if we should do online check-in 48 hours before departure and check if there is any good upgrade offers at the airport (during baggage drop-off) or don't bother doing the online check-in at all and just do the check-in at airport (plus ask the availability of upgrade offer) at the same time?

Oh dear! I wonder how long this route would last.

The only way for this route to survive is to totally eliminate the cheap fare class like O, W etc. and only sell higher fare classes at a discount in order to attract some die hard Tier Point seekers.

Early June is probably close to the low point for QR loads to DOH given Ramadan. Will see if things improve during July and August, if not then there's going to need to be a lot of high value cargo on this route or a huge subsidy for it not to be quite badly loss making.

Cardiff is apparently returning for Summer 2019.

I didn't think it was seasonal, and it's still bookable during the winter at the moment.

Yes, it was always scheduled as a year round flight. Though it has always only been scheduled 4 or 5 times a week during the winter.

My understanding is that loads are medium at the moment. I next fly at the end of August and will report back then.

Latest information shows Cardiff is 5 weekly for this coming winter then 6 weekly for the summer. To be honest, 5 or 6 weekly is probably more sustainable than 7 weekly.

I flew out of BHX to DOH this week on the 787 with 5J and under 100 in Y. Think it's just seasonal.

It's pretty much high season for travel ex-UK.

Update: Cardiff is 5 weekly for the Winter and 6 weekly March-May. 7 weekly returns at the end of May or possibly June 1st.

Yep - 23% load factor in J (outside of Ramadan) strikes me as poor revenue management rather than being seasonal...

CAA route statistics for May 18 have been published, showing 2965 passengers carried in the month. Will continue to track month by month and hopefully we shall see that number rise.
