QMiles v Avios
Couldn't find the exact answer to this but just doing the maths on this one.
QMiles seems quite limiting v Avios if you're no 100% loyal to Qatar which is understandable. I am basing this assessment on being a very limited traveller with only one Q long haul flight coming up in the next yr.
1. Where do I find my fare code on the 6 character booking number?
2. My assumption is my discounted business fare it the lowest and I would earn c. 20k for LHR - Doh - HND NRT-DOH-MUN route + 15k bonus for this offer in Oct?
3. The QMiles card is limited on everyday spending unless I go with an Amex direct card? Even then it doesn't look like the UK Amex can be transferred to Qatar? This would leave a shortfall to buy a one-way redemption fare from JNB - LHR in 2017. To make up that shortfall would require buying the miles which is always a bad idea.
4. There's no method to book economically with Avios?
5. With the upgrade + companion vouchers, it's game, set and match!?

1. You don't. The fare code is usually the first letter of a group of letters/number that is the ticket basis. Can be very hard to find.
4. If you have avois currency you are dependant on the BA/IB avios t&c's for awards.
At times putting your 6 character booking number into one of these can show additional information. Does depend on the system used by your airline
