It looks like Qatar will receive their first 787 by mid-September now. Curious if this will delay the introduction on the LHR-DOH route.

More delays to delivery. The CEO is unhappy with the quality of the cabin and they have not yet accepted delivery.

I love how he said they wouldn't accept "even a scratch", yet by that standard, surely he should have refurbished all the A330/340 fleet by now with the latest seats and IFE to ensure the smart appearance is maintained?

The latest info is that the first 787 A7-BCB is due in at the end of August. Look for it to enter service to LHR mid-September and my guess is you will likely see it on QR075/076. The second 787 is due at the end of September with a total of 5 in service by the end of the year.

Nice promo video.
The review from seatplans annoys me. Why does everyone always review business class? The majority of people can never afford business, I have never flown business (although I'm saving my miles for when I hopefully get married) and even my dad, a top exec at a multi-billion dollar corporation, isn't allowed to fly business unless the flight is over 10 hours - and they have even cut the amount of flights he is to take in the future in economy.
While Business is what people aspire to, economy is what matters for the majority of people most of the time, and this is shown with Qatar's configuration of 22J 232Y. While Qatar hardly neglects its economy passengers, I feel that the 3-3-3 configuration is really quite stingy on an aircraft used for long-haul flights. THIS review is one of the first (of probably many) to highlight just how narrow the seat is. I guess the prospect of fitting around 12% more passengers on each flight was just too good to pass up. Better hope I'm not sitting beside someone who's large or an armrest-hog on my next flight...
