Smile Lounge access with silver status

Travelling 8 times a year between thailand and Nortern Europe. Wondering if I can access any lounges as a silver member, travelling on Economy class. For me the most important airports are HKT, BKK, KUL, DOH, LHR, LGW, CPH and ARN. If possible to access the lounges iit would be nice to know the name of the lounges.

Any help appreciated

Chris

I will travel with a friend to KUL on AirAsia soon. Having a Tesco Lotus club card I ask if we will have access to the TG F lounge & spa at BKK.

As long as QR has a contract for a lounge, as Silver members, you get access.

I know I do , at least in London Heathrow, and FRA. So I would presume the rest would do too.

Hi Chris

As Guy Betsy says, if QR offer a lounge for Business class passengers you should be given an invite to it when you check in at the airport. I can add a little to the previous posts;

LHR - QR uses the Cathay Pacific lounge (lounge C). However, QR will be moving to LHR T4 late Nov this year. The plan is to open their own lounge in T4 early 2011, until then they'll be using another airlines lounge but they haven't announced who that will be yet.

BKK - QR uses the Thai airways Royal silk (ie Business class) lounge in area E, 3rd level. It's downstairs from the main shopping floor, level 4, airside.

DOH - Economy passengers are limited to the main terminal but there is a dedicated lounge for Silver members above the Duty free area. You will not have access to the QR Business class lounge as it's located in the Premium Terminal, a separate building. In the main Terminal there is also a Business lounge that other airlines use called the Oryx lounge, it's better than the Silver lounge but you'll have to pay to use it. IMO the Silver lounge is a nice free perk for QR Economy Silver status passengers. It has comfy chairs, a selection of soft drinks & snacks, Internet terminals & showers. More than adequate for a 2-3 hour layover.

LGW - QR used to use the US Airways lounge but that might have changed since I last used it in 2007.

Hope this helps.

Hi

At LGW , you will get access to the Servisair Lounge for gold and silver

At LHR, you will get access to the Cathay Lounge, If you have a gold card , you will get access to the Virgin Lounge.

At HKG, the last time I flew is was the Cathay Lounge for both gold and silver

At BKK we where given access to the Thai Lounge for both silver and gold

Hope the above helps

In HKG I believe QR have stopped using the CX Business lounge & now use the Travelers’ Lounge (East) on level 6. Not used it myself but I read somewhere it was considered inferior to the CX lounge.

However, wasn't the OP asking for info on HKT (Phuket) rather than HKG, or was that a typo?

The chairs are not comfy. They are single seater hard back chairs useless for sleeping, dozing in fact anything. I had the most uncomfortable 8 hour stopover there and the air con is freezing as well. Luckily an attendent brought be a blanket.

Next time I have a long stopover I shall use the ORYX lounge even if I have to pay.

The BKK Thai Lounge is good (Thai Airways), now a much larger selection of food available from October 1st 2010.

I'm sure it was uncomfortable for an 8 hour stopover, that's why I told the OP it was only "more than adequate" (as opposed to "good" or "great") for 2-3hours only.

Smile Lounge Access for Silver-Phuket and KL

I recently did a round trip Phuket to Kuala Lumpur. I am Silver level, I used biz checkin in Phuket and a staff member from the Coral Lounge came to check-in and escorted me to a fast track desk, after signing a paper he took me to another desk at immigration where an officer dealt with my exiting Thailand simple paperwork. He then took me to the lounge - it has a chef on hand to make sure the food does not run out with a wide selection of mainly Thai delights, only beer booze wise, and laptops are available. A free head, shoulder and foot Thai massage is also available to lounge guests. I was the only guest but it was 10pm.

On the return leg from KL, when asked I was given a stamp on my boarding pass to enter the Malaysian Golden Lounge, which is huge. Only beer again, but every other comfort one could wish for, I wish I had had longer to enjoy it!

In SIN QR uses the SATS lounge. It's on a mezzanine level up some escalators from the main departures area. Pleasant enough area to wait for your flight...

Is this confirmed as a policy? As per this thread, at some lounges some members were told the lounge is for Gold only
