QF32 on 4th Sept

Hi all,

Does anyone know of any reason why the seatting plan for QF32 (LHR-SYD) on Fri 4th Sept would become 'unavailable at this time' on CheckMyTrip despite having been available (for weeks) previously ?

This is our outbound flight for our holiday, and we have requested 80A/B which is still showing in the 'Details' section of our booking. This flight is on an A380 obviously, but using the aircraft due to be delivered at the end of this month. The Qantas.co.uk website still shows this flight as being operated by an A380, am just hoping that Airbus gets delivered on-time!!

Our return home, on the same booking reference, on QF31 is still showing the seating plan fine (check it every day on the remote chance that 80A/B or J/K become available).

Thanks,

Gary

It's showing R7 F6 A6 J9 C9 D7 I0 W9 T8 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 VC SC NC QC OC XC E0 .

I guess WHY is rather sold.

Looking at F/J/W seat maps - there is not a single F seat currently showing as allocated while, in contrast, the J and Y+ cabins have comparively few unallocated seats.

Qantas do block seat maps when cabins get very sold - I think this is the case.

Hi Serfty,

Many thanks for the very quick reply. This is the first time that I have used CheckMyTrip, and initially thought that the system might be down when the seating plan was initially unavailable ... but it was then the same for 4 days in a row.

I do recall that the economy cabin was looking pretty full indeed the last time I checked it.

Once again, I appreciate the reply.

Gary

I have been out of the industry for a while so things could have changed , but QF always used to allow seating to be selected up until a certain threshold was reached - then it was closed off - this was IIRC to avoid the situation where a late booking family might be forced to sit apart because the only 4 seats remaining unselected where in different areas of the cabin (I think that there were other reasons as well , but as I say , I have been out of the industry for a while )
