Overbooked Easter Flights!

As with most holidays, flights tend to get overbooked! Got a call from Qantas earlier about my AKL-CHC flight tomorrow morning dep 0730. Due to overbooked flight and aircraft change from B734 to B733 they needed to bump people to the next flight leaving at 0900.

Thats fine I said, although I was travelling with 3 others who had booked separately so he moved all of us to the later flight. Have managed to online check-in again for the later flight but couldn't get seats together (I had managed to seat us all together for the earlier flight since I checked in online as soon as I could this morning).

One person from our group has the flight as "Requested" rather than "Confirmed" under MYB so hopefully this changes soon. Seems the 0900 flight is overbooked as well since they aren't selling tickets for it anymore.

Was good to get a phone call and at get a little bit of extra sleep tomorrow morning rather than getting to the airport early and finding it overbooked and wondering whether our seats were still safe!

Flying around times where the demand is high is a great thing as it opens up more opportunities for comp upgrades.

Yup, our Exit row 46H/J seats morphed into PE row 35 seats at check-in today.

Wow, if this was a UA or AA flight (or indeed one in Europe), you could have expected a big bucket of goodies as their way of saying "sorry".

No upgrades on my MEL-PER flight tonight. J is still showing 5 and Y is open all the way down to S class with 7 still showing in S. I just burned some points and bumped myself to J. Much more civilised (and if there's an equipment change on the 332 to an international config, I get skybin as a bonus). A332 in J is always a nice way to traverse the continent.
