What to do with miles?

I have around 10,000 miles, which isn't a lot, but I'd rather not waste them. I am unlikely to fly with Qantas at any time over the next couple of years (nothing to do with poor service or anything like that, just not a good option for my routes etc). Any suggestions please as to how I could spend the miles?

You mean points of course.

10K will not get you very much but a short single journey on Jetstar or a short QF for 8K say BNE-SYD

There are much better value options than the Oz capital city runs. Look at the small regional routes with very high prices and no competition - eg LDH.

I was suggesting the type of distance he could fly not necessarily go to Sydney. We do not know where he is so actually suggesting a specific flight seems a bit premature

Sorry, I should have given some more information. I live in the UK. I was not really looking for flight options. My ideal would be to transfer the points elsewhere (which someone told me is impossible) or to use them in a different way from flights. I had a similar situation with Skywards (Emirates) and used them on a raffle that they held for business class flights. A gamble, but a least I used them for something. I only found out about the raffle by posting on here. I was hoping I might find some opportunity that I hadn't thought about by for my Qantas points. Thanks.

What a good idea. Sorry but I used it for some friends in Melbourne :<( Dozen bottles of wine (I had to add a little cash, but not much: points + cash deal). Great stuff - at least I've used the points and my friends get a case of wine! Thanks.
