A380 Arrival and Tour Dates
Not long now till the A380 arrives in Sydney!!
As most of you know the aircraft has a month before it begins flying passengers to Los Angeles. During this month CASA will conduct various tests, pilots will get their hours up and crew familiarize themselves with the aircraft.
19th September
Qantas takes delivery of their first A380 in Toulouse

21st September
A380 arrives in Sydney followed by an official welcome ceremony in hanger 96
30th September
The A380 will be officially named after pioneering aviatrix Nancy-Bird Walton in a ceremony also in hanger 96 followed by a special flight and a tour for selected employees
2nd October
Promotional flights will take place with the aircraft in Melbourne in the morning and Brisbane in the afternoon
10th October
The aircraft will make a special trip to Auckland

Do you know the basis of selection of these employees and whether they can give teh flights to related parties?

I don't think AF and LH ran competitions. They either took the top x flyers or had the relevant managers nominate FFers.
I agree it is unlikely QF would do such a thing, but hope eternally powers us all.

Why AKL? Is it to get some ETOPS trials or to rub it in NZ face? Or to say that QF was the first to fly the A380 to AKL before EK?
Hmmm it has been indicated to me several times that QFNZ has special teams for their corporate accounts, mostly Australian owned companies with ops in NZ. I have not received any noticable difference in service from the years as a SG or even QPNB/PS. Well besides from the Jetconnect FTers and the QP staff that have begun to call me without looking at the BP.
What does "special service team" do and is it for WPs?

Special services team is new (in NZ) and apparently is for CL + high scoring WPs. I'm still trying to find out what it actually does (the promised ability to waive rules sounds interesting).

Can they waive rules such as the Australian Residency requirements for most QF and QFF promotions .
