Why not codeshare on AO?

A thread elsewhere has got me wondering....

Whilst AO remains a 100% subsidury why do QF not put there code on all AO flights?

AO is a full service airline.

Obviously it would only be Y class, but then flying most of QFlink is no diffent.

They would then be using marginal capacity and by putting a higher fare cost on it would more then cover the additional marginal QF delivery costs as well as making a better yield for the group.

I would then fly LHR-SIN-CNS on the AO operated service then LHR-SIN-BNE-CNS on QF services as I currently do.

Anyway thought the learned FT'ers could enlighten me to why QF have not done this.

In writing your responses I hasten to add that if I do want to go LHR-SIN-CNS with the second segment on AO I am currently charged a surcharge to do this. Do they value my time that much that they want me to pay more to stay on their aircraft less and obviously earn way less SC's, FFpoints and forfeit lounge facilities.

You answer your own question further on. QF FF miles are intentionally not able to be earned on AO flights. For them to add the QF flight number would cancel out one aspect which they were trying to do

But if they can extract a higher average yield for those that choose the QF decoder compared to those that choose the AO decoder then why are they not doing this.

I don't see that many marginal costs increasing if a passenger went on the QF code - I can only think of loyalty costs, a bit of lounge costs where the lounges exist. The two already interline (I presume) and I really can't see any fixed costs increasing.

Dave, what I am saying is I would be prepared to pay more or the same if they gave me more, not pay more to give me less (except a bit of time).

QF have applied for and been granted rights to operate codeshare on some AO flights into Asia. I definatley know that one of these was to Indonesia but cant remember the other of the top of my head. Will try and find them when i am in the BA lounge in ATH on Sunday.

Cheers
