Booking Codes
A recent post on the United board provided an exhaustive rundown on the booking codes used by the airline.
See www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum50/HTML/014576.html
Is there a similiar Qantas list someone has put together? Whilst clearly the itn access point for buckets of paid seats is useful, is there (as at United) a point within the Qantas website (perhaps that I have missed totally) that makes it somewhat easy to search for seat groupings/availabilities to use points towards?

I've forgotten who originally posted this information, but is this what you're after:
First
Z Award (not visible on ITN)
F Full fare
A Discount
Business
U Award (visible on ITN)
J Full fare
D Discount
Economy
X Award (not visible on ITN)
Y Full fare
B, H Discount Y, but very few conditions
K More discounted, some conditions
M, L, S, V, O are usually heavily discounted, the level of discount (and attached conditions) in the order as displayed on ITN.

Cabin class: Y9 B3 H3 K9 M9 L9 S5 V9 O8 Q5 N8 X4 E0
So award inventory(X) as og rightly points out can be shown!
BTW, what is "E" class?

I forgot to mention that another code is "G" class which is for group bookings....don't try and change those flights!! I tried once and after half an hour of ringing around, QF decided that it wasn't changeable.
BTW, all members of your group don't have to be on the same flight to get the "G" class booking and obviously cheaper fare!

If itn.net shows economy award status for Qantas it's definitely inconsistent. I can't see it for any of the couple of months I've looked at transpacific. And that makes for one of those small, constant and irritating bleats. Searching for two transpacific seats to take a boy to see a grandmother I'd be happy to spend time working out the best combinations of dates given a bucket guide to seat availability. We do this for paid seats every day. But in not even showing any availability then you either call Qantas direct(and burn up their customer service dollars as we search over a nine week summer school vacation peroid for a pair of seats there and back)or, go to the Qantas website.
First, the Qantas website is frustratingly slow. Second, it doesn't show availability until you go to award bookings. There you plug in the days you want to travel then wait, then begin to look, wait, look, wait look, wait; for possibilities that will allow say, two clear weeks, at destination. (without perhaps a Lax,Akl,Mel,Syd routing) All in all, Qantas turn the chase for a seat into an obstacle course, for no great reason. And only because the guide for internet literate travellers is available for paid seats but then unavailable for seats that result from that travel.
Am I alone in thinking this way?

If you try www.seatmap.com and use the Etour Data option it brings up X class availability consistently, as opposed to going through ITN. Its definitely become my fare class finder of choice.
