Can this be the beer and false FF status code thread? Please?!
Having seen yet another thread go off course with a "chit-chat" on booze and false FF status codes, and at the risk of being flamed severely (I can take it - it's only a flesh wound you coward), can I respectfully ask for a truce on those 2 subjects in serious issue/question/topic threads? The topic tends to get waylaid (sometimes extremely) and a quick glance at the first couple of pages topics shows how many times in how many topics.
Yeah, I'm Aussie, yeah I love me beer and more importantly a laugh (preferably at the expense of Murkins and Kiwis, but anything will do!) Several posts from the several regulars that participate in these repoirtees often make me smile or laugh, but it gets to the stage where that fine line is quivering.
I'm not having a go at anyone, nor am I so anal that I can't appreciate a diversion in thread or a good laugh. What is starting to irk me is the frequency with which a good or serious topic/question/problem is getting "lost" and swamped by the constant "chat line format" on the same point (booze/false FF codes) over and over ad nauseum. Quick one liners swapped several times back and forth in a short period of time that you see in chat rooms - that sort of thing.
Until we get used to the "new" regime of status codes could we also maybe show both - i.e. WP/PL or whatever !! Just so us slow yokel types can catch up and get into speed.
No malice or intent and posted in good humour. Gentlemen - start your oxy torches.

Well said.
I had just written something along the same line on one post that had fallen victim to this yet again.
I've just poured heavy oil in my trenches ready for the fire fight.

Back on topic, what beers are served at the fifth domestic lounge, and third international lounge (both CNS) on this list?

Are they both air-side of security?

I see from the website link I posted that the international Qantas Club is "Airside, Level 1, right of Security" and the domestic
is "Adjacent to Gate 22," so I withdraw my final question.
However, would someone arriving on CO GUM-DPS, after clearing customs and immigration, necessarily have to clear security, or could he somehow make his way up to either QC for a FlyerTalk gathering?

og stay on topic!
Some good points have been raised, and I've wondered where the line should be drawn.
If a thread is wandering off-topic, and the subject of the thread hasn't been fully discussed, then yes, the discussion needs to be brought back to topic. Most of the time, one of the posters in a discussion will bring an errant thread back on topic. I think I've done so once or twice.
When I put my hand up to be a "helper" (and became the accidental moderator!), I did clearly note that I enjoyed the quirkiness of the QF and BA boards, especially the 'apparent' disregard for topic. Some of the most knowledgeable posters here will impart their experience, then go their hardest to get a thread off-topic. I'm as guilty as anyone here...
Because the traffic here is much less than at, say UA or AA, a suggested solution is to post a new thread, with specific issues you want addressed.
Thank you for publicising these issues, and I think we can all take on board your comments.

Fair comments. I do think that the excitement of the new QF FF designators will run its course. Obviously, its the social QC mob who get the most out of this ('coz they invented it (IMHO as a humble SG)). Surely its up to others to stick to the abbreviations / words they know and love - and time will tell.
Note that I have not mentioned beer and did address the topic.

og, congratulations for staying on topic. This is a vexatious question, as everybody has differences of opinion. I think we should respect the threads a little more (like Willyro and others, I am as guilty as the next to going off topic) and use this thread for our private beer talks. Hey, even our esteemed moderator has pulled me up before privately, for going way off topic, so I desisted from my errant ways and complied.
As for our "false" FF status code, this was thought up by all FT'ers at the BNE QC meeting who gave me the title WP (so, of course, in typical good Aussie humour I adopted it).
To insert a little humour to the board, I changed my registration details...never thinking it would become such a topic for conversation or change. I's even flowed to other boards (egads)!
One needs only to concentrate on the second letter to know what status we are.
I think if everybody gives a litle, we will all continue to show why the QF site is quinessentially Australian - humour, good natured digs at each other, interspersed with serious information swapping and at the end, talking about one of our two favourite subjects - sport
or drinking

As a lower than humble NB I have decided that I will only a) stay on topic and b) use the FT designators if I am allowed access to one of these QC meetings via a guest pass from one of you wonderful WP types out there!
Otherwise I shall hold my own party for one in a UA RCC while they're still around. Oversalted peanut anyone?

Whateva thadocta said, it's probably all true. I *am* a right royal *&#$@& !!! Dunno if I've ever been telecon'd before. Wondered what that tingle was last night - thought it was the day old take away scraps we heated for evening nosh-up.
As for the topic at hand - please don't stop the wit and humour interjected in the threads, or the tangents off thread. I reiterate again from my original post, it's just the one liner "chit chat rapid back and forward" beer thingy that irks, and only then, when it's in a topic/post/question thread that is a good one, and the original topic gets lost. (There are of course some threads that are just screaming out for it, but that's another matter! There's also those threads where the original problem has been solved and it's a free for all, which isn't an issue.)
Again, it's just my opinion and it may not worry others. Box is open and ready for me to jump back into at any time. Whoever said you don't get crotchetty as you get older is talking outta their proverbial !!
You spoiled my illusions WP - thought it stood for Wank Poster. I don't know any PL's that are ......s. *Cough* *Splutter*
Cheers.

So you think the Qantas board should take this rule from Airliners.net into account.
Please spend some time to make your posts interesting and easy to understand. Messages of agreement such as "me too" or "I agree with X" have been found to waste time and are therefore to be avoided. A message consisting of only one or two lines of text is probably not worth posting.
I understand all the codes after a FT meeting. Haven't seen the name Al on the list so you can get up to speed with all the new terms.

Perhaps this should be the next one after SYD?
