Changing Red E-Deals
I have recently joined the QF Club and have wanted to change a couple of Red E-Deals. Before joining the QF Club, i have been pretty much laughed at when asking if they could be changed. In the past two days however, i have been able to change two. Yesterday while flyin HBA-MEL, we arrived at the airport ealry. We asked if we could get on an earlier flight and was told no because of our fare type. Then when the agent saw i was a QF Club member, we recieved emergency row seats on the flight an hour earlier. The second instance occured just this morning. I was booked on the 0700 to SYD on saturday morning but wanted to change to the 0630. I was using a Red E-Deal upgraded with points. Once again, no questions and no points required for changing a reward points booking.
Has anyone had any similar experiances with no status vs some sort of status?
Cheers

Hi,
I have been doing this for nearly 20 years. Not a QF Club member and only a humble bronze QFF. I have found that if you arrive early for your designated flight and an earlier flight is about to leave, ground staff have no problem switching flights without penalty. It all depends on how polite you are when you ask. At least that's my humble opinion! I have been knocked back only once in many requests for flight change and then only because the earlier flight was from BNE international and ground staff thought that I would have insufficient time to get there from BNE domestic.
Cheers

Status always talks in the direct proportion of your membership..ie. Plats they will bend over backwards. Like the other posters (ans most FT'ers), we travel enough to realise that "please" and "thank you" go a long way. I might be Plat, but that doesn't mean I ask for the impossible or spit the dummy if there are no ODU's. OK, so I tried...I'll try again next flight...and there are enough of them

Some further thoughts:
1. Check the seats sold pattern at the AOW site. Print it off, and go to the QC Club desk. Works everytime, if your flight is heavily sold.
2. Go straight to the CityFlyer gate desks - they can move anyone, anywhere.
