More Discount Tix, More FF Seats
Qantas is pouring more discount tickets into the market and will increase the number of frequent flyer seats it makes available, to rebut growing concerns over its cheap ticket deals and prices.
It has also extended Internet discount specials to 150 ports, where only 30 routes had cheap fare offers last year.
Despite criticism from consumer groups that lower-tier fares are climbing in the wake of Ansett's demise, Qantas says cheap deals are still available if bookings are made far enough in advance.
The market leader says it is inevitable that the lowest prices will rise during times of high demand - and when Internet specials have been exhausted.
