Waitlisting for Upgrades
Does anyone know the official policy on waitlisting for upgrades ?
I asked for an upgrade from J to F from BNE to LAX on 4 January. There was no availability. I was told I could only waitlist 14 days from the date of the flight. I thought you were able to waitlist at any time ??

The latest FF newsletter (dated Nov-Dec) states that CL/Plat/Gold members can apply for upgrade waitlisting from 90 days up to 72 hours prior; for everyone else it's 14 days to 7 days.

For silver members you are met only to be upgraded from 330 I think to 7 days, but I was able to waitlist an upgrade 6 days before the flight. I was waitlisting on 2 separate segments.
The upgrades came through so waitlisting can be useful.
I would suggest if you get an answer you don't like ring again another time as the first person I spoke to wouldn't let me waitlist on a flight 6days out but another person let me waitlist.

Yes, the phone agents need to get their act together..I (gold) was told last week that upgrades could only be waitlisted 21 days prior to flight time; no idea where that could have come from!

I assume if there are reward seats available at time of flight they will clear the upgrade at that time? i.e. are all upgrades subject to waitlist, or if you are flexible MEL-LAX using upgrades certs or points, they will do it well in advance?
