Dead gate reader, manual BP pulling

I hate it when that happens.. and the QF staffers were pulling the "wrong" bit of the BP (they were keeping the stub.. which annoyed me!)... However it was made up for by VH-OGT (international config 763) doing SYD-MEL yesterday morning (and aparently all day)... so I got a nice seat in J.

But no mileage credit. Will have to do a mileage credit request. ho hum.

Im curious, why did their keeping the small stub rather than the large one annoy?

I've experienced either the stub or the big part being kept at the gate. I'd prefer to keep the stub since there is more room in the shoe box for all the other stubs that I might collect.

I keep all my BP stubs together... I hate getting the big part as yeah it's an extra that doesn't fit lol.

I know when they all go thermal the whole thing is moot.. but looking at the stub collection also reminds me of many previous memories.... like flying SQ in F to LHR, ot just yesterday the A380 to SYD.. or the first flight I was upgraded, or BA to SVO or the first 777 flight in 1995 or ... heaps of other memories

A further weird thing i have noticed now.

I logged into my account... the flight has not posted ok.... but I clicked on my bookings just for a lark, and the booking is still sitting there for 30 Oct... when I select it to view it has the flight I was changed to (I was on QF419 but I was moved to 415 as I got to domestic transfer around 0715 very quickly through customs) but the flight details are greyed out (because the date has passed I guess)...

very weird. I guess because the QF staffers just ripped the BP and didn't process them the system doesn't have proof I flew on the flight.

annoying...

Sometimes they have to be processed manually later. Don't worry, even manually processed flights tend to credit 4 times out of 5.

points: give it a few days and it will probably show up...
stub: i've had both big and small across a bunch of carriers, no real system to it that i can see. i actually prefer the big ones as they are harder for me to lose.
