Seems like all the QF ZQN flights are being diverted (to IVC, as usual) due to low visibility today and probably till this weekend:

Although we like flying back empty, upon arriving at our destination the aircraft has to remain sealed and thoroughly checked by security before we can disembark and its not much of an easy ride for us as we have to clean the aircraft because the cleaners arent permitted to clean from ferry flights.

With Qantas looking to retire a 737 and park others in OZ, is there any chance one will come this side of the Tasman to Jetconnect?. This would allow them to re-schedule Wgtn to Chch services which they trumpeted as being done 6 months ago and hasnt materialised.

CHC-DUD isn't that bad a route in terms of profitability. 20,000 students that need to get down to DUD for start of uni, go home and back for the 3 sets of holidays then go home for summer. That's 8 flights a year per person (if you assumed all 20,000 needed to fly to CHC that is) plus parents and friends etc coming down to see people plus your general leisure and business travellers.
And Air NZ has monopolised on that route for years. Costs $69 WLG-AKL but $89 WLG-DUD at the very least for a flight thats maybe 5 minutes longer. Not to mention that fact that only a very small amount of $89 seats are loaded onto flight. My son goes to uni in DUD, the cheapest seat he managed to get was $59 on a grabaseat one day. Otherwise he generally pays $145-185 one way.

DJ starts CHC-DUD-CHC 1 July IIRC. Every NZ flight I've taken between CHC & DUD (admittedly only a handful) has been 100% full. However the DJ flight schedule is terrible for business travellers so I wonder how successful they will be.

Rather than tempting fate I will be spending the next 5 hours in AKL QANTAS Club.
Direct flight to ZQN at ~10 is also cancelled... Not sure for the reason why yet. Maybe an unservicable aircraft or fog in another city.
edit: QF2712 is also cancelled, so just as well I didn't waste my time travelling down and back. NB QF2714 probably wouldn't have made it back in time (safely) for the QF2763 AKL-CHC flight.
