Qf @ Chc

Travelling on EK SYD/CHC and QF CHC/ZQN
I was told by QF that i need to pick up my boarding passes at CHC as EK will not issue any boarding passes to me, tho the luggages will be checked thru all the way to ZQN, and seat arrangements cant be done until then.

So do i need to go thru security check for the boarding pass or there is QF counters to do those for me at the airside of the terminal?

Kindly help me! First time do this interline thing...thx

You will be doing a international -> domestic transfer, so you will have to clear NZ immigration and customs at CHC, and will end up on the "landside" of security anyway. Also note you will be required to collect your bags and recheck them at QF counter (the bags may well be tagged all the way through, but will require rechecking due to customs clearance requirement).

you will also have to drag/ carry/ wheel your bags a good 600 metres or so through the terminal, past by standers who will get in your way, past airNZ check in to the far side of the earth before some surley QF check in person who probably actually works for Air NZ will apply the single piece, 20kg checked baggage test and then charge excess baggage if you are over. After that you will go up the esculator and wait at a destitute gate for your flight to depart, which may or probably closer to may not be late.

On the way home you will kiss your bag goodbye in ZQN and not have to worry about transferring it yourself at CHC, but instead will collect it in SYD.

It is quicker walking outside the terminal, but then you run the gauntlet of lots of smokers.

For non smokers: You don't appreciate just how much airborne crap you put up with in the olden days when smoking was OK on planes. And then there was the horror of being stuck in the smoking section when you really wanted to be in non smoking.

For smokers: (deleted..)
