What about doing CXI-LAX, only transiting through HNL?
I'm sure you could use the FJ flight, but with two coupons rather than one. But more to the point, what's the plan for getting back to the mainland? The rules say you can use QF codeshares on AA metal only between certain city pairs, and HNL isn't on the list. Might mean NAN-CXI-NAN-LAX and no HNL.

Oops, just realized FJ only flies CXI-HNL-YVR.

In respect to RTWs, can one backtrack in transit, i.e. NAN-CXI-xNAN-LAX? If thats the case, I would reconsider other FJ destinations in SWP (Samoa, Tonga)

willyroo and I have chatted about this. We are going to bounce it back to the Qantas forum. Thanks so much everyone for your efforts in helping the OP.
