it took multiple hours for flights bought today on qantas.com to get ticketed ... time to retire those old web servers methinks!

Clear your cache.... lots of changes to the website due to freq flyer changes. Tools > Internet Options > General tab > Browsing History section > Delete... > Delete All....

(Note: This will delete cache for ALL sites, including form data)

There's a mistake on the Silver benefits page.

[snip]
Silver membership privileges
  • 25% points bonus, that's 250% more points than the base Economy rate.
[snip]
No I shall not be the guinea pig to test that theory. Even if I am a PS.

EDIT: Corrected now.

We are booked in Business for an upcoming trip and have requested to WL for First. Unfortunately the "your Bookings" on the QF web site shows:
Note: An upgrade to Business is requested. Status of upgrade will be shown 5 hours before departure.
After calling to check if the upgrade request was actually for First instead of Business (as indicated above), the friendly QF phone agent said "were having all sorts of problems with the web this week - its even telling people things we never imagined we could do..."

I'm still trying to sort out an award booking mess after several attempts this week. I keep getting confirmation but it is not ticketing.

In my bookings:

Note: An upgrade to Economy is requested. Status of upgrade will be shown 5 hours before departure.

Picky ... but shouldn't that read An upgrade from Economy is requested? I spent 30mins making sure I hadn't booked in the hold!! :p

You never know. there might be another round of "enhancements" coming.... :D

One of my bookings briefly showed as being for 01 Jan 1970 the other day. I restrained the urge to call and check, and it returned to the 21st century half an hour later!

Hmmm. 1/1/1970 has quite a bit of relevance in parts of the IT world as a "default" (also known as Epoch) time. A little bit similar to your alarm clock or microwave flashing 00:00 or 12:00 when the power goes out and returns.

I suspect that in the Qantas back-end infrastructure, they had a machine which was quite broken, and they went in and fixed it, which solved your issue.

There has been note of this issue on AFF for several weeks:

So all afternoon the QF website won't let me login to my FF account (I actually want to renew my QP membership). Just pops up with an error message every time I put in my details. Anyone else experiencing this?

I know the CC deadline is coming up, but surely this shouldn't be killing that aspect of the website? Or is it just me? :)

CC issue would not have traffic on qantas.com but rather the bank sites or their phone lines.

I am about to make a decision re: my AMEX points. Retain in AMEX or transfer to QFF. Eeny Meeny Miny Mo

Hello "Rewards Advantage" plat card. All for $250/yr. At least I can still transfer to QF after 31/3.

Hello AMEX Gold Maximiser card with no annual fee. I think I will keep this card.

Used to get 1.5 points per $ but with QF withdrawing it is now back to 1:1. Also no cap on points.

No!!!

Aus_Mal Apr 1, 2009 4:06 am

Qantas are now allowing you to book Premium Economy fares on the Qantas site from some cities that were previously not showing up on the site as Premium Economy "from" destinations.

Eg - BNE-HKG or BNE-LAX.

Previously you could only select "Economy" or "Business/First" ex Brisbane, whereas the same destination with a start of Sydney had "Economy", "Premium Economy" and "Business/First".

Of course all routes fly through Sydney/Melbourne, except for some Jetstar flights. The JQ ones push you to the Jetstar website to book.

Trying to book LHR - MEL in premium economy on qantas.co.uk for outbound in September, inbound in October, with either dates fixed, or flexible date option chosen. It always returns a message saying: "We could not find a fare for the requested itinerary. (# 66002)". If I change it to SYD, fares are returned... Any ideas why this would be happening?

For any date in the future, LHR to MEL is returning the same error when trying to book W. If I change it to SYD, only BA flights are offered. Something's up...

Brettmcg Jun 7, 2009 6:44 am

Interesting that the Qantas Booking Agent spits out a 66002 error. There is still plenty of W and T availability throughout SEP and into OCT. Maybe give QF a call and see what is going on.

Qantas agent wasn't able to tell me why it isn't working. Checked again just now, same error. And for SYD, still only showing the BA flights.

Expedia.co.uk is showing returns in PE for circa 1500 pounds over that sort of date. So I suggest it's just a Qantas IT problem and hopefully will be fixed in a day or so.

So I called again, and this time was told that it was not possible, and never has been, to book W fares online!

I was advised to call back on Friday for an exact quote, as there was a problem with their system that isn't going to be fixed until then. She then did look at the website and said "Yes, I see what you mean about the error".

Any QF IT lurkers watching this space?

BD1959 Jun 9, 2009 4:48 pm

If you can't wait, BA.com will allow you to book LHR-MEL-LHR - albeit via the BA Codeshare - prices also look on the high side compared with Aus_Mal's findings on expedia.

I was booking an award ticket last week, AKL-xMEL-SIN, SIN-LHR, LHR-SIN, SIN-xSYD-AKL. I could find availability on the days I wanted (in business) for the sectors, but only if I searched for them as one ways or returns. I could not make the multi-city tool return availability for SIN-LHR.

Eventually I had to book it over the phone and they refused to waive the 2500 points fee to do it even though they acknowledged the website wasn't working properly. They also quoted approx SGD$1300 in taxes and fees for this which seems way too high from what I can tell.

Interestingly the ticket still hasn't been issued a week later so I don't know what the actual taxes and fees will come to.

I've noticed in my QFF account recently that I have activity (eg: points from etrade, everyday rewards and flights post as normal) yet it claims my last actitivity was June, 2010 (when it really was September). Anyone else seeing this "feature"?

Can't say I noticed that online, but it was on the paper copy they keep sending me every few months (even though I have it set to email the statements, not post them).

Looking for award availability PER-HKG only to find that Perth seems to have disappeared from the list of capital cities. It is in the list of other cities but the only allowable destination is GET (Geraldton) :D

I guess QF wants to limit my wandering:D or is it they know I want to use AA miles

Check under the countries list for: "Principality of Hutt River". I believe the QF CEO is implementing further changes to reduce the cost base of PER flights. PER should be a part of the Prinicpality before the end of this weekend :)
