thanks for the replies guys and gals

yes its qf 82 transferring to qf 1225.. dun ask me how i got that routing. i bought it from qantas website on monday and at a time when the prices were fluctuating even within 2 hours.

i was worried about what to expect from customs and immigration at darwin cos i usually go thru sydney and the sydney folks at customs and immigration tend to be more practical and tactful when clearing passengers yet ensuring quarantine regulations are maintained.

so i guess i just have to make doubly sure my bags have no traces of even the smell of food and the likes.

really thanks for the responses... flyertalk rocks!!

I had a canvas bag which had contained an apple and a banana 2 days earlier ... the beagle at customs indicated for it -- so those smells linger quite a while. Luckily I didn't have anything with me, but all the searching took an extra hour (esp. as they weren't finding anything, which makes them extra thorough).
