Aussie Visa question

sorry if this posted in wrong place - but no idea where else to ask!
I am traveling to OZ with someone who will be using a US Travel Permit (political asylum). Does he need an australian visa or can he get an electronic visa like those with US passports? I am keen to know if there is a website for other countries about travel permit visa requirements.

tks

I think it'll have to be a visa. You need to hold a passport from a limited list of countries to be eligible for an ETA.

As you are in London - is it the same for the UK. Will he need a visa for UK? I know Germany doesnt require one...but some places do.

I think that will have to be a Visa. You will have to mail it to
the Embassy in DC.

You may contact the Australian Visa Information Services by telephone on 1-888-990-8888.

For the UK, it may depend on his actual nationality. The UK Visas site may help you a bit more on this.

Your friend needs to apply for a proper visa from the nearest Australian embassy. Be prepared to show lots of documents, and appear in a personal interview.

Does your friend travel on the US travel permit now or does he/she still use his/her original passport still?

You 'know' that you don't need a visa for Germany? Most US Travel permits do not work like US passports anymore.. so it is best to check with EACH country's consulate to be doubly sure.

It's legally quite dangerous for a refugee (ie a proper 1951 Convention refugee) to travel on their original passport. They could lose their refugee status.
